Wilderness Life - that's us Michael and Manuela
We were born and raised in Switzerland and have been a couple since 2010. Here in Lapland we are fulfilling a dream that was not planned, but as life sometimes plays out, a chance has suddenly arisen for us. Starting with 2 huskies we now have a pack of 11 sled dogs that belong to our family. Animal welfare and health is always our top priority.
Due to our common interest in nature and animals as well as the desire for a career change, we founded the company Huskytrek in 2015. This is how we made our hobby a profession. In 2018 we were in Lapland for the first time on holiday, then bought a holiday house (the log house on the lake) and so one thing came to another. In April 2020 we took over Wilderness Life. Through Corona we have decided to postpone the emigration by 1.5 years. Since December 2021, we have been living here in Lapland and running Wilderness Life together. Everyone has their area of responsibility, everyone has their strengths and together we complement each other and are a great team.
Michael Raschle
I was born in 1980. As a trained truck Chauffeuer, until a few years ago I drove with a lot of passion in Germany and abroad.
With the training as a dog trainer and the founding of Huskytrek came a professional change for me. Since the age of 15, sled dogs have been a part of me that is indispensable. In addition to my passion for the dogs, I like to spend my free time fishing and canoeing on the water.
I speak German a little English and am learning Swedish.
Manuela Steinmann
I was born in 1987. I completed my apprenticeship as a service specialist in gastronomy and until 2010 worked in restaurants where I worked for several years as Chef de Service. In 2018+19, I completed the Bäuerinnenschule at the Strickhof in Winterthur.
In 2008/9 I did a year abroad in New Zealand and worked in a restaurant where I could also improve my English skills. I am very sociable and especially like the treatment of visitors and guests.
My great passion besides the dogs and cats are the horses and riding. Since I was little, my happiness is on the back of the horses. I hope to be able to pursue this hobby here in Lapland.
I speak German and English and I am Swedish learning
